Top 5 Ways You Can Be a Better Blogger

in Article/Blogging/Fun/Monetize by

Blogging is fast becoming a popular pastime for many people. Most people’s views of blogs are of an online diary where you post your thoughts, feelings, and opinions on certain subjects. Some bloggers post for the sake of posting, and they aren’t too bothered by how many readers they have.

Others, however, are obsessed with gaining as many followers as they can get their hands on. The benefit of having a large reader base is that advertisers are more likely to approach you and pay you for space on your blog. If you want to be a better blogger for whatever reason, here are 5 tips to help you get there.

1. Keep a friendly writing style

There’s no need to overdo it with the long words and perfect grammar. In fact, blogs that are written in a very formal style tend to be less popular with your average Web surfer. Try and keep your tone casual and comfortable, as if you were talking with a good friend.

2. Don’t over write

The fact is that most Internet surfers have short attention spans and readers tend to prefer short text rather than long drawn out essays. Try and keep your writing clear and to the point. Include only the needed information. You don’t want to appear like your writing a book. If your blog post contains over 500 words, ou’ve probably written too much and you may need to shorten the text to just the main points. One way to do this is to split the post in two so it continues to another page.

3. Don’t over advertise

If you decide to promote yourself and your products or services on your blog, that’s fine. It’ a good way to generate some customers and will cost you nothing. But remember that blog readers will easily spot posts that have been written as marketing tools and some dislike this type of thing. Try to be subtle about your advertisements. Write a brief post detailing your business and leave a single link at the bottom or in the signature area. If you want to advertise using banners, use them sparingly. Many visitors are quickly turned away by pages with endless rows of rectangular adverts.

4. Spell check often

Keep your blog professional. Always go over your post a few times and check for misspellings. Be casual in your writing style, but don’t be sloppy. Posts filled with spelling errors will gradually give you a bad reputation and people will start to question your technical skill and knowledge. No one will take what you say seriously and you may lose readers.

5. Post regularly

If you build a good reputation, people will start to visit your blog more often and expect to see new content on your site; most will come once or twice a week. Keep your blog updated and fresh by posting often. Remember to keep your posts short and to the point. This way they are easier to read and will take no time to write on a daily basis. Keep your fans happy. Write often and keep the content interesting.

Google-Certified Ad Networks for All AdSense Publishers

in Adsense/Fun/Google/Internet/Monetize by

Google Adsense has just announced the expansion of Google-certified third-party ad networks to all the Adsense publishers. This will let other Google certified ad networks to compete directly with adwords and they can show ads using adsense.

Allowing these ad networks would mean more ad networks would be competing now for display ad space on publishers’ sites. And this would lead to more ads to appear on sites serving AdSense display ads – more earning for site owners.

This is great news for all adsense publishers. Now more ads can appear on your site and well you still have control of the certified ad networks. Here is the official word from the adsense blog.

Adsense Email

We have launched a new capability in AdSense allowing Google-certified ad networks compete directly within AdSense, which means that advertisers from these third-party networks will be able to compete with AdWords advertisers to show on the Google Content Network.

These new capabilities will automatically be enabled for your account, and you’ll see a new section in your Ad Review Center where you can allow or block specific ad networks or all networks except AdWords. Please note that we’ll gradually be adding new ad networks to AdSense accounts over the next few months, so you won’t see any immediate impact on your ads or your earnings.

To ensure the quality of the ads that appear on AdSense publisher websites, Google will certify all participating ad networks for adherence to our standards for user privacy, ad quality, and speed. Some participating ad networks use targeting methods similar to Google’s interest-based advertising to show more relevant ads to users on the sites they visit.

How to allow or block specific Google certified ad network

You can allow or block and particular certified ad network to block inside your adsense account.

  1. Goto & login into your account.
  2. Goto Adsense Setup > Ad Review Center.
  3. adsense adreview center
  4. Scroll down to bottom of the page & click ‘change’ button next to ‘Google Certified Ad Networks’.
  5. adsense adreview center change
  6. Click block button to block specific ad networks. You can click to check option ‘Automatically block new Google certified ad networks’ for blocking new ad networks.
  7. adsense adreview center allow or block

You can read more about it here on Adsense official announcement.

How to Submit Article Creations to over 500 Article Directories

in Affilliate/Article/Blogging/Fun/Monetize by

Article directories hosted around the web are normally designed with simplicity putting more emphasis on text and layout than graphics. This way, article directories do not take too long to load making it easy for people to submit articles quickly. In fact, to submit article creations, all that is required is usually to register in the article directory one time putting your e-mail, password and other personal details that will accompany your future article submissions.

After registration, articles can easily be created offline using a word processor and then pasted to the submission forms for approval. All of these little steps are needed to post a single article. If another article needs to be posted, everything except the registration needs to repeated which isn’t a big deal for most unless articles need to be submitted every now and then which could be tiring for some.

The real concern is when articles need to be posted on other sites for added publicity. There are hundreds of article directories growing all over the Internet and a good deal of them have high page rankings making it absolutely crucial to submit article work there. Fortunately, a single program called Article Submitter can submit an article to over 500 of these directories in just a few steps.

How to Submit Article Creations to over 500 Article Directories in 3 easy steps:

1. Run Article Submitter and Add your Author Information

Providing that you already checked that your article is ready for publishing, acquire and run Article Submitter to get started. The first screen will show you some fields to fill up which will be universally used to login to the article directories and attach any information supported by the site to the article. The easiest way to finish this step is by filling all the fields and clicking “Register author profile” and then “Save author profile”. This should get you registered in all the article directories to make mass-submitting possible.

2. Manage the Article Directories List

Managing the list is easy letting you sort the sites according to address or PageRank as well as setting the categories for each depending on the article that you will submit. It can be found on the second button on top.

3. Paste your Article and Let Article Submitter Work

This step is also easy requiring you to supply all information regarding your article and choosing the submission options. You can submit article works to any or all sites in the database. Article Submitter allows multiple articles to be made so all of them can be submitted to the different article directories all at once. If you have Article Spinner installed, you can check the first checkbox to have your article rewritten prior to submission. Click “Submit article” when you are ready and let Article Submitter log in to each site and submit the articles one by one.

Once the process is completed, you will be presented with a screen showing what has taken place along with some options that allow you to print the reports or export it to a file. If you ever wish to submit an article again, you can easily load the program again and let the automation do the work.

Google AdSense Extend the “Ads by Google” label to more ads

in Adsense/Internet/Monetize by

You have probably noticed the “Ads by Google” label that appears with ads on your site. AdSense display this label because they want users to have an awareness and understanding of the ads they see online and where they come from.

As more and more advertisers use rich media ad formats, such as Flash and interactive ads, AdSense want to provide the same benefit to users for those ad formats. So today they’re starting to add the “Ads by Google” message to rich media ads in a way that’s unobtrusive to the ad creative and your site, but as user-friendly as our current “Ads by Google” notices on other ad formats.

You’ll soon notice a small “i” (for “information”) icon overlay in the bottom right-hand corner of these ads, which will expand when the user hovers over it. This was specially designed for rich media ads. This new message will appear on ads created by AdWords advertisers, and will show up on your website’s standard AdSense ad units.

Google AdSense Extend label

Just like before, users who click on the “Ads by Google” label will be taken to a page where they can learn more about online advertising and the ads they’ve just seen. AdSense tests of this new message format on rich media ads showed that they provided information to users without affecting ad performance.

AdSense Reports have gone international

in Adsense/Google/Monetize by

A new feature from Google Adsense announced today, AdSense reports in currencies other than U.S. Dollars.

If you’re located in one of these five countries (France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, or Spain), AdSense will convert your earnings to Euros on a daily basis using the prevailing market rate from the previous day. With earnings converted daily, you’ll avoid the risk of currency exchange fluctuations between USD and the Euro. You can still choose to receive payments in either Euros or U.S. Dollars and select from a range of payment methods as well.

To make the switch to local currency reports, you’ll need to agree to a new set of Terms and Conditions. Here are the main changes involved:

  • The party that publishers are contracting with changes from Google Inc. to Google Ireland Limited.
  • Publishers are responsible for paying any local taxes in their jurisdiction. Google will only issue VAT refunds to publishers with an address in Ireland.
  • The governing law changes from California law to either English or local law.

You can view the full text of these new Terms and Conditions by logging in to your account and looking for the green prompt, “See your daily earnings reported in Euro amounts!” on your Reports Overview page.

Have a great day!

How to Change The Font Face of The Text in AdSense Ad Units

in Adsense/Google/Monetize/Tutorial by

Now, you can now change the font face of the text in ad units on pages in Latin-character languages. Adsense just announce a new feature, Fontastic new options for your ad units.

You can choose between Arial, Times, and Verdana font faces. Please note that while font options will appear in every account, they’ll currently only be applied to ad units on pages primarily in Latin-based characters.

How do I select a new font for my ads?

There are two ways to set custom fonts: across your entire account for all AdSense for content units, or for individual ad units.

To set a custom font as the default for all your AdSense for content units:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Visit your My Account tab.
  3. In the Ad Display Preference section, click edit.
  4. From the drop-down, choose your preferred font and save your changes.

The font settings will be reflected in all your AdSense for content ad units shortly.

To set custom fonts for individual ad units:

If you’re creating a new ad unit, you can choose a custom font while generating your ad code. Alternatively, you can update the font for an existing ad unit, by editing that ad unit through the Manage Ads page.

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Visit your AdSense Setup tab.
  3. If you’re making a new ad unit, choose AdSense for content as the product and continue to modify your settings. If you’re editing an existing ad unit, visit the Manage Ads page and choose your desired AdSense unit.
  4. In the Fonts drop-down, choose whichever font you would prefer.
  5. Make any other changes to your ad unit and save. If you’re creating a new ad unit, your font settings will be visible wherever you add the code for that unit. If you’re editing a saved ad unit, font changes will be visible on your pages in a few moments.

Please note that if you customize the font settings of an individual ad unit, changes you make to your account-wide default font settings will not be applied to that ad unit.

If you’d like to quickly change the font settings for every ad unit generated from your account, visit the “Ad Display Preference” section of your Account Settings page to select a new account-wide font face. This will affect all units you’ve created in the past, regardless of whether you used the Manage Ads feature. By default, your ads are currently set to “Standard AdSense font family”.

Have a great day!
