Libby McDonald is a writer and documentary filmmaker who lives in the Adirondack Mountains with her husband and four children. Her film credits include the two investigative documentary films New School Order (Sundance Film Festival Official Entry) and Terror Town. An advocate for children, Ms. McDonald has launched two schools, The Learning Community Charter School, an alternative K-8 public school for underprivileged children in Jersey City, New Jersey and Lakeside Preschool, a Waldorf-inspired school for young children in upstate New York.
After her youngest child had a high lead level, McDonald felt compelled to investigate the effects of environmental toxins on children’s health. Her book, THE TOXIC SANDBOX: The Truth About Environmental Toxins and Children’s Health, documents her journey to understand the real environmental threats to the well being of our children. It will be available in stores on November 6th.
