Google Checkout Part of AdSense Referral

in Adsense/Blogging/Google/Monetize by

Google today added Checkout to the AdSense referral program, in addition of AdSense, AdWords, Firefox and Google Packs.

It means you as AdSense publisher can now refer your users to Google Checkout through AdSense.

How the the new referral button works?

Well, every time you refer a user to Google Checkout, you make a little money. It’s a simple process that includes all of three steps:

  1. You place the Checkout referral button on your site.
  2. Someone clicks on the button, signs up as a buyer with Google Checkout using a valid U.S. credit card, and completes a purchase of at least $10 before shipping and tax through Checkout within 90 days. (The current $10 minimum purchase corresponds to our existing $10 promotion for new buyers, so this amount may change in the future.)
  3. You earn $1.

Adsense ReferralsIt’s that simple. But please note that Checkout referrals are currently only available for U.S. publishers, and Google Checkout is currently only available for buyers with a U.S. credit card.

Hopefully both Checkout and Checkout Referrals available in more countries soon. 🙂

If you’re not convinced, why not try it out yourself? . It costs nothing to sign up (actually, you’ll even get a $10 bonus) and it’ll make shopping online a little easier.

Google Launches Pay Per Action Beta

in Adsense/Article/Google/Internet/Monetize by

Many of adsense publisher already use referrals to direct users to their favorite Google products. Now, with Google Adsense’s new referrals beta, publisher can select products and services from Google base of AdWords advertisers.

This is good news for those of publisher who have wanted to use referrals in the past, but couldn’t find a product to match their site’s content. With the referrals beta, publisher can search for products that match up directly with their site’s content.

Adsense Referral SignupThey can customize their referral units to match the look and feel of their site, making it easier than ever to find a referral ad that fits in seamlessly with their site’s design and content.

What’s more, Google can help make sure publisher find and display the most relevant, best-performing referral ads on their site.

Simply provide a few keywords to describe their site and their users’ interests, and they will see ads automatically displayed that perform best for their site. No more constant updating, rotating products, or guesswork.

As with Adsense’s current Google referrals, publisher will generate earnings when their visitors click through to an advertiser’s site and complete an action defined by their advertisers, such as a sale or sign-up.

Because these actions are often more involved than a simple click or impression, advertisers pay more for these referrals, which can translate into higher earnings for their site.

If you are one of Adsense publisher and interested in being one of Google beta testers, please visit the referrals beta site and sign up.

How to Cash Your Adsense Check in Indonesia

in Adsense/Article/Indonesia by

As you can see, I run AdSense here on supriyadisw dot net. It’s more for playing and seeing how it works than any big money maker.

There are so many things I find odd about how it works. This post is about one of those, trying to get paid in US dollars if you’re not based in the US. 😉

As my traffic went up and my AdSense placements improved, I started getting a check each month, rather than once or twice per year. I got my first check after six month on my AdSense. These checks come to me in US dollars, sent to my Indonesia address.

First AdSense Check

When I got my first check, a very happy day for me :D, I was waiting for this day. But I got a little problem. How to cash this check? I know there are several Indonesian people who run Adsense had this problem too. Here is my experience about cashing my AdSense check in Indonesia.

First Check

I cash my first Adsense check in Citibank. How to do this? To cash your AdSense check in Citibank:

  1. Go to Citibank in your town with your AdSense check and photocopy you identity (Government ID (KTP), Driving license, etc) with name and address match to your AdSense Check.
  2. Give your Adsense Check to Citibank’s Customer Service. S/He will check your AdSense check.
  3. If your AdSense check valid, you have to pay Rp 100.000,00 as a fee.
  4. You can go home and wait for 35 days.
  5. You will get call from Citibank.
  6. You can go to Citibank and get your money 😉
  7. Your money will convert to rupiah but you can ask s/he to give you US dollar.
  8. Finally, you can enjoy your money.

Second Check

As you see, my first AdSense check need 35 days to cash. IMHO, this process to long to me. Can I reduce the time for cashing my Adsense check? Yes, I can.

I go to Kioscek to cash my second AdSense check. What is Kioscek? Kioscek is a middleman to cash your check in one day. Sound great. How to do this?

To cash your AdSense check in Kioscek:

  1. Sign up as a member of kioscek.com.
  2. Login into kioscek and complete your personal data.
  3. To cash your check, you have to fill application form in your member area.
  4. Send all documents needed to cash your AdSense check.
  5. Confirm your document via SMS.
  6. They will cash your adsense check and convert your money from US Dollar into Rupiah.
  7. You have to pay fee for this service.

For more detail information, please go to their official site.

Thanks to Mr. Ketut, the owner of this service. I have to pay more to cash my Adsense check. I count this fee as my 34 days fee for my waiting time if I cash my Adsense check in Citibank. IMHO, I lose a lot of money from it 🙁

I have to pay for:

  • Mail my Adsense check to Kioscek (Rp 30.000,00 for courier)
  • Fee (10% from the my AdSense check)
  • Convert my US into rupiah (The rate is lower than the bank’s rate CMIIW)

Can I cut the cost for cashing my AdSense check? Yes, you can cut the cost for cashing your AdSense check. I found two alternative solution for this. 😉

First Solution

Cash your AdSense check into your US Bank. Yes, you can get US bank account. I will write about how to open US Bank account in another time 😉

To cash your AdSense Check into US Bank:

  1. First, make sure that your Adsense check is payable directly to you.
  2. Fill out a deposit slip (from your US Bank).
  3. Endorse (sign) the back of your AdSense check.
  4. Mail your AdSense check to your US Bank.

Second Solution

You can use Electronic Fund Transfer feature from Google Adsense. I know this solution seen impossible for Indonesia, but it’s very possible 😉

My first assumption is you already had US bank account or another bank account in the country that support for AdSense EFT. The main problem is, you have to change your country. You can ask Google Adsense to change your country for you.

If you choose this feature, your payment deposited right into your bank account instead of waiting 4 weeks for your monthly check to be sent.

The best Solution

What is the best solution? You can view this table below and make your own decision: 😉

Full RSS Feeds on my blog

in Adsense/Article/Blogging/Internet/Monetize/Wordpress by

I switched my blog’s RSS feeds from partial feeds to full text feeds. Past I used partial text feed for several reasons.

First, since RSS Subscribers get to read the full blog content inside their newsreaders, they would never visit my actual blog. I think my pageviews will decrease then would impact the advertising revenue, such as Google Adsense. As we know Google Adsense is a PPC program, more traffic, more pageviews, and more money. 😉

Second, you could get my content for your own sites easily. Just install auto blog, add my feed into your blog, then you will get all my content into your blog.

Inspirated by Digital Inspiration posting Do You Publish Full Text Feeds Or Partial RSS Feeds?, I will try to publish my RSS feeds with full text feeds.

I have my own reason. First, let’s try this method. Hopefully my RSS Subscribers would grow. Second, I had enabled feedvertising on my blog. It’s would be an alternative way to monetize my blog beside Google Adsense.

Hopefully I would get good result about this. Wish me luck! 😀

AdSense Beautifier no longer Compliant with Adsense TOS

in Adsense/Article/Google by

Looks like a bad news for me. According to Inside AdSense about Ad and Image Placement Policy, is AdSense Beautifier no longer compliant with Adsense Terms of Service? Let’s take a look about this.

We ask that publishers not line up images and ads in a way that suggests a relationship between the images and the ads. If your visitors believe that the images and the ads are directly associated, or that the advertiser is offering the exact item found in the neighboring image, they may click the ad expecting to find something that isn’t actually being offered. That’s not a good experience for users or advertisers.

Publishers should also be careful to avoid similar implementations that people could find misleading. For instance, if your site contains a directory of Flash games, you should not format the ads to mimic the game descriptions.

AdSense beautifier comes with general images. That’s the reason why I always pending to show images relate to post’s keywords 😉 I always use general images to avoid mislead or confuse my visitors.

What if I place a space or a line between my images and my ads? Would that work?

No. If the ads and the images appear to be associated, inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads will not make the implementation compliant.

AdSense beautifier places a space or a line between images and ads and comes with general images that does not appear to be associated with ads.

Does this mean I can’t place ads on pages with images?

You can definitely place Google ads on pages containing images — just make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors. For example, if you run a stock photography site with a catalog of thumbnail images, don’t line the ads up with the thumbnails in a way that could be misleading. Consider using a full border around your ads or changing your ad colors, for example.

As It says, you can use AdSense Beautifier — just make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors. It’s depends on your images. You should use general images that does not appear to be associated with ads.

But You should always contact Google AdSense team to make sure your ads always compliants with Adsense Terms of Service. You should use AdSense Beautifier with your own risk as always I said 🙂

😀 Have a great day and good luck!

Monetizing your WordPress

in Adsense/Article/Blogging/Google/Wordpress by

Monetizing your WordPress

You may want to make a few bucks (or more) from your WordPress to help pay for hosting charges and other costs associated with running it. Some bloggers find that they can make more than just small change, but most not enough to quit their day job. Here are a few of the more popular methods to monetizing your WordPress.

Several ways by which you can make money with your weblog include Google Adsense, Amazon Associates, various other affiliate programs, advertising, and donations. In this post you can find some WordPress plugins helping you to monetizing your WordPress easily. The success of these following programs is highly dependent upon your content and the level of traffic you get to your site and your strategic to use them.

Google AdSense

AdSense is an ad serving program run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image and, more recently, video advertisements on their sites (According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdSense).

To be able to put Google Ads on your site, you first need to be accepted into the Google AdSense program. Go to Google AdSense to apply this program. Google will monitor your site to see if you have the traffic and the content that would pull in sufficient clicks to make your participation in the program worthwhile to Google and to you. If accepted into the program, all you need to do is place a bit of javascript on one or more of your site templates to create the ads.

How much money can you expect to make from Google Adsense? It’s all depends on You. You make from a little bucks to a millions 😉 Google doesn’t allow its participants to publicly share their clicks and earnings data but you can make a rough estimate. The average click-through rate for online advertising in general is around 0.5 to 1.0%. With that rate, if you get 1000 page views per day (pages with Google ads on them), you should expect anywhere from 5 to 10 clicks per day. What will each of those clicks pay? Well, that depends on your content and the keywords on your page that are triggering the ads being served.

Here is a table showing the fees you could expect for every page views per day:

AdSense Fee Table

Here is a list of severals WordPress plugins for AdSense:

  • AdSense Deluxe
  • AdSense Beautifier
  • AdSense Paster
  • Google AdSense Earnings
  • and many more

Affiliate Programs

Another popular way to generate income from your weblog is through signing on with an affiliate program. How this program works? A company lets a website owner place a link or button on your site promoting the company’s product. When one of your site visitors clicks on the link or button, the visitor is taken to a landing page to be induced to buy something. If the visitor buys something, you get a commission from the company. Sometimes the commissions are for leads, but most often they are for completed sales.

Just place a link on your site is not a good enough result. Sometimes you should use another trick to make this program really works for you 😉 I just got this trick from my friend. Let’s we try this trick together and let me know the result 😀

First, make a review about your product. After a few weeks days, you put up a visible banner on your site. This will make your visitor be curios, why this guy (you) put this banner here. Then after a few weeks, you talk about the affiliate program (you make money on 2nd tier). Finally after a few more weeks you start pre sell.

The most popular Affiliate program in the blogosphere is Amazon’s associate program. When you place a link to a book on Amazon from your site and someone clicks through that link and buys the book, you get a commission.

Other affiliate programs can help pull in revenue to your site, especially if they are for products that have something to do with the content on your site. Commission Junction is the leading affiliate network, making it very easy for individual website owners to participate in affiliate programs. Ebay, Barnes & Noble, Match.com, IBM, Dell, Expedia.com all offer affiliate programs through Commission Junction.

You can use these following plugins:

  • WP-Amazon
  • Amazon Media Manager
  • TicTap Contextual Ads for Amazon
  • and many more

Advertising

You can also take advertising directly from advertisers for your site. One company that operates as a network of bloggers that accept advertising is Blogads. Another blog ad network is CripsADS, Text Link Ads, Performancing Partner, Adbrite, and many more.

You can use these following plugins:

  • Text Link Ads
  • AdBrite Paster
  • and many more

Donations and Tip Jars

You can monetizing your WordPress by placing a simple PayPal Donation button on your site. You need to open PayPal account to collect your donation.
You can use these following plugins:

  • EasyPayPal
  • Paypal Donate
  • Simple Paypal Donate Plugin
  • and many more

Blog Exchange

in Adsense/Article/Google by

A traffic exchange is a type of website on the Internet, which provides a service for webmasters to exchange of traffic. Blog exchange is a special traffic exchanges for blogs. A blog exchange program applies this basic idea: view other member’s blog and they will view yours. It is classified in two, automatic and manual.

In the manual blog exchange, you manually click through the other members blog. To earn one visitor you must wait for the programmed time to expire (this varies from 20 or 30 seconds, depending on the blog exchange you signed up for) before clicking the next site in rotation. More often than not, bonus points are given to regular surfers, assuring you of visitors to your blog.

Automatic blog exchange (autosurf) is blog exchanges that automatically rotate advertised blog in one’s Internet browser. Autosurf differs from manual blog exchanges in that the blog rotation is automatic; an ad viewer need not respond or even view the sites.

Such blog exchanges are BlogExplosion, BlogMad, BlogAZoo and BlogAdvance.

Google AdSense

Traffic is the key to getting profit. The more traffic for your blog, the more changes you get click for your AdSense.

Adsense states in its policies on Prohibited Clicks and Impressions:

Any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions is strictly prohibited. These prohibited methods include but are not limited to: repeated manual clicks or impressions, incentives to click or to generate impressions, using robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software. Please note that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited, to avoid potential inflation of advertiser costs.

You can not join autosuft traffic exchange for your blog or site that display Google AdSense. How abou manualsurf? Although it is not specifically mentioned in the policies regarding manual surfing, it still is a tool that generates impression and part of a click-exchange program.

I’m not really sure to join blog exchange for my blog that display Google AdSense. My personal experience, there is a litle even no click result from blog exchange. When I asked Google Team about manual surf, they said:

Hello,

We understand that you would like to have more traffic visiting your site. However, we do not endorse or encourage the use of any traffic exchange programs for this purpose.

We recommend that you exercise caution when using traffic exchange programs to ensure that you do not violate the AdSense Terms and Conditions and that you do not artificially inflate your pageviews or clicks. Please note that AdSense participants are solely responsible for verifying that any tools or software used in conjunction with AdSense do not violate the AdSense Terms and Conditions.

For your reference, you can find tips and guidelines for keeping an AdSense account in good standing by visiting our Help Center at https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23921.

To protect your interests as well as those of our advertisers, Google monitors clicks and impressions on Google ads to prevent any abuse of the AdSense program. Google’s proprietary technology analyzes all ad clicks and impressions for any activity intended to artificially drive up an advertiser’s costs or a publisher’s earnings.

Clicks or impressions deemed by our monitoring system to be invalid will appear in your reports, but because advertisers are not charged for them, no associated revenue will be shown. Please rest assured that your account is being properly credited for all valid clicks and impressions.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

Bottom Line

  • There is still no answer about manual surf with google AdSense.
  • If you do not really sure to join blog exchange that show your AdSense, disable them as soon as possible.
  • You can still enable you AdSense with your own risk 🙂
  • You can control your AdSense display using Phpadsnew. You can setup that your AdSense will not show up when visitor come from your blog exchange.
